SOCCER HAWKS BOUNCE BACK…DEFEAT TRUMAN 3-1…

On Wednesday 10/1 the QU Soccer Hawks defeated Truman State University with 3 second half goal strikes for a 3-1 win to break a four game losing streak. Bane Isailovic headed home the first goal at the 59 minute mark off a well-placed free kick from Steve Miller. Miller laid up a nice curving ball to the far post and Isailovic beat everyone to it to notch his 5th goal of the season. Five minutes later Jake Pittroff put Grant Ellison free at the top of the Penalty Area where he beat the Bulldog keeper for his 5th goal on the ’08 campaign. Truman narrowed the Hawk lead to 2-1 in the 86th minute with a shot from outside the 18 that hit off a Hawk defender and went into the opposite side of the goal from where Hawk keeper Kyle Dillman was headed on the initial kick. The Hawks killed off any possible Truman rally in the 90th minute when Isailovic launched a powerful header from near the midfield strip that Grant Ellison ran on to and held off a Bulldog defender as he raced into the box and hit a rocket into the upper 90 degree angle of the near post for his 6th goal strike this season.

The Hawks play next at Southern Indiana in Evansville at Noon on Sunday 10/5, and then stay over in Evansville to play Bellarmine University on Monday 10/6 at 2:30 PM.

It’s a great time to be a Hawk!
