On Friday night 10/10 the Soccer Hawks lost to Lewis University 2-0 in an important GLVC match. The Lewis Flyers, highly ranked in the NCAA Division II National pole pretty much had the better of the play throughout, particularly in the second half. Lewis scored at the 40th minute mark of the first half on a header off a corner kick and again at 52nd minute mark on a shot from close range. This loss drops the Hawks record to 8-5 overall, and 3-5 within the GLVC.
This upcoming weekend the Hawks travel to play Missouri S & T (Rolla, MO) on Friday, October 17th at 7:30 PM and Drury University (Springfield, MO) on Sunday, October 19th at 2:30 PM. The following weekend the Hawks are at home to Rockhurst on Friday, October 24th at 5 PM and then host UMSL on Sunday, October 26th at Noon. All matches are critical, particularly the match with the Rolla Miners Friday night. With a strong finish in these four contests the Hawks could still earn a GLVC tournament spot.
