QU Hawk Soccer: End of Season Awards

At a recent gathering several Soccer Hawks were presented with awards for their personal success during the 2009 season. Those honored included:

Rookie of the Year... Zach Venvertloh...Freshman, Midfielder Quincy Senior HS (IL)
Most Improved Player...Tyler Easley...Sophomore, Defender Summit HS (Fenton MO)
Silver Boot: Jake Pittroff...Junior Forward, Oakville HS (St. Louis MO)...8 G & 4 A
Gold Boot: Jack Wedemeier..Junior Forward, Notre Dame HS (Cape Girardeau MO)...10 G & 7 A
Best Defender: Scott Greubel...Senior Center Back, Oakville HS (St. Louis MO)
MVP: Kyle Dillman...Senior Goal Keeper, LaFollette HS (Madison WI)

Other awards for the 2009 season included:

ALL-GLVC 3rd Team selection for Defender Scott Greubel and Forward Jack Wedemeier

ESPN Magazine Academic All-District 5 honors for Jake Pittroff and Jack Wedemeier

As a team, the Hawks finished with a 9-8-2 record and a 6th place finish in the 15 member GLVC Conference.

Five Seniors (Kyle Dillman, Scott Greubel, Tom Dawson, Jayme Groark, and Andy Kling) are slated to graduate in May of 2010. All have had a very good personal career at QU and all have been very important members of the team throughout the last four years. The coaching staff sincerely thanks each one of these for all they have put into the QU Soccer Program and wishes them the best of luck as they move on to post-graduate careers.
